Health Care Power of Attorney
The Health Care Power of Attorney, also referred to as a “Living Will,” is a legal document used in Estate Planning in which an individual (the “Principal”) may designate an agent to act on the Principal’s behalf for all health-related matters, in the event the Principal becomes incapacitated and unable to make his/her own decisions.
The Health Care Power of Attorney, or Living Will, may provide the Agent with specific authority to have access to the Principal’s medical records, make life-or-death decisions, and/or decide on a medical treatment on behalf of the principal. The Principal may also indicate whether or not he/she wishes to donate any organs upon death, and if so, for what purpose.
